About Us

St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church has its beginnings in Seattle in 1894. The former church structure was demolished in 1995 to make way for the new REI Flagship store. The present St. Demetrios Church was completed in 1962 and dedicated on March 31, 1963. It was designed by Paul Thiry, one of the principal architects of the Seattle Worlds Fair in 1962. St. Demetrios works within our community and in the greater Seattle area .

About Our Festival – Where Does the Money Go?

Our festival has been a tradition in Seattle for 45 years offering authentic Greek food and folk dancing. Proceeds from our festival go toward the support of our many ministires that include the following community charities:

Boyer Children’s Clinic
Camp Agape (camping for kids with cancer)
All Saints Camp
Feed the Homeless Program

Connie Prekeges Walk

The Connie Prekeges Foundation 5K walk to support Candlelighters of Washington State and Camps for
kids with cancer. 100% of our donations go directly to support these causes, helping kids with cancer
be kids again.
This is our 5th year walking, our first Statewide walk! We’ve raised over $50,000 in the past 4 years
for camping programs. This year we’re teaming up with Candlelighters as well. They also support children and
their families affected by cancer throughout the state.

Walk in Seattle, starting at St. Demetrios, at 10:30 on Saturday, Sept. 26th. Start and finish from St. D’s, and
walk through the Seattle Arboretum. Finish in time to have lunch at the festival!
